I've always been curious of my ancestry roots,I guess it stems from not knowing either of my parents fathers. Both sides of my family are from Charlestown,Massachusetts, very deep rooted with irish descent. My parents have been together since age 14 ,which I'm proud of this fact You don't see that anymore atleast when I look around at my generation. 9 times outta 10 my friends parents are divorced, and I end up being that 1 percent who's aren't. See I'm telling You this story of my life because this is what got me to wondering...where do I really descend from, and I'm not talking religion to all the smartasses saying" well god of course ". I mean... I look at my parents and while I do I know neither one of them knows their real father, and I thank god that I do. So I decided I wanna know who they Are,and I started with my fathers father..Herva. I was 20 years old when I decided to look herva up,first let me explain. My fathers mother Rita had my father at 18 and married Herva Henry my grandfather. She had divorced Herva by 22 years old,and had met James Feeley and married him. James had adopted my father and my fathers name went from John Henry to John Feeley ( you'll need to know this for later ). My grandmother had 7 children in all,but now I had a name to start my search. I found Herva in the phone book and it took me a half hour to talk myself in to picking up the phone and calling him. I remember him answering and me introducing myself ( not knowing if He was gonna hang up or stay on the phone) He was quiet for about 10 seconds until I said I wanted to know who He was,and what happenda why He wasn't there for my dad. So we made plans to meet in charlestown. When I pulled up in front of his house I was so nervous,I finally got out of the van and went to the door and rang the bell. The first thing I thought when I seen him was " ok so this is where I get my height from " both my parents are tall. That was the 1st time I had seen the missing link to who i was and how I became to be. Then there's still my mothers father...my mother didnt and don't talk about him. She says her mother was and is her father, but needless to say I didn't have anyone to ask. My mothers mother was married and her husband was incarserated at the time( charlestown had its reputation) and that's when she met my grandfather. I'm not gonna mention his name for outter respect of my mother, and also because of who He is. I will say that he's italian, and lived in the North End. Like I said I didn't have anyone to ask,I lost both grandmothers when I was 15 at 2 months apart. They were the greatest grandmothers anyone could ask for. So to bring You up to speed my husband was telling me his fathers Family has a ancestry roots book, and I decided I want one of those. March 2012 I joined ancestry.com and WOW what a family tree I have. Your more then wèlcome to my amazing families ancestry tree.
